READINGS IN THE ROUGH

"it is refreshing to see a young writer stretching the theatrical medium"
ROYAL COURT, LONDON
"Noble is clearly a startling and intelligent talent"
ALISON CROGGON, Critic

Fairly Lucid Productions from Melbourne, Australia are proud to introduce to Canadian audiences a staged reading of two new works from Award winning Australian playwright - Benjamin Noble.

Readings in the Rough, invites the audience to play a part in the dramaturgical process of writing a script. In an open discussion the audience helps to form what the play can become in this important stage of first public readings.

Featured for the inaugural reading in Canada are the following scripts -
The Swing Pushers gently chases around the games people play blurred between the lines of age and memory.
In the Darkness of Shadows dives between truth and fiction to discover a man's secret.

Benjamin Noble has received numerous awards within Australia, as both playwright and actor. In 2005 he was one of the few Australian delegates at the World International Playwright Festival (InterPlay). His writings have been work shopped throughout Australia and in New York and are often described as "beautifully eclectic" and "diversely textured" INPRESS.

Fairly Lucid Productions is originally a Melbourne based production company that first presented a Double Bill of new Australian work at the 2004 Melbourne International Fringe Festival and received an "Honourable Mention" at the Fringe Awards that year. With the hope to spread new Australian work to new audiences, they look forward to having you be part of it's international debut.
